Bearwood College’s British Ski Cross Athlete secured place in England squad

Martin Trotter is a member of the England Freestyle Ski Cross Team and raced in a number of European countries in 2009 at both Europa Cup and FIS level. His performances and results against world class athletes has secured his place in the 2010 squad and gained him TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) recognition, support and funding.

Martin is in the Upper Sixth and currently working towards his A2 exams and has recently received an offer from Newcastle University where he intends to study for a business degree while working on the TASS program and training with the GB squad members. A relatively new downhill discipline, Ski Cross makes its Olympic debut in Vancouver on February 21st 2010 and is one of the favourites to capture the imagination of TV audiences around the world.

A fast and dangerous action sport with 4 skiers race together down a difficult course which includes sharp turns, rollers, drop downs and huge jumps at speeds in excess of 60 mph. Martin’s 2010 race calendar includes races in:

Le Sauze – France

Les Thorons – France

Megeve – France, Laax – Switzerland

Davos – Switzerland

Les Houches - France

World Junior Freestyle Championships – New Zealand

(Aug/Sept 2010)

World University Games – Turkey (Feb 2011)

On March 9th 2010, Martin will represent Bearwood College at The Inter School Ski Championships in Les Houches, France at both Slalom and Giant Slalom. We wish him all the very best of luck!
