The National Conference on Implementing the Revised EYFS Framework held by Capita Conferences in Manchester was attended by delegates from the childcare industry who had come to hear our very own Nursery Manager, Lorraine Beamish.
Lorraine, who was fundamental to the development of Wokingham's strategy for implementing the progress check at age 2, was invited to speak as part of a team from Wokingham Borough Council. The other speakers included Shellye Hanson, Service Manager, Early Years, Chilcare and Play Team at Wokingham BC and also Stuart Milne, Wokingham's Early Years Advisor.
Positivity about each child's achievements and celebrating their unique talents and skills is considered critical. The team promoted information sharing between home and the EYFS setting, confidence building amongst childcare staff and communication between different settings as key to an integrated approach.
The delegates were practitioners from a wide range of early years settings including primary, infant and special schools, local authorities, voluntary and private providers, nurseries and pre-schools, children's centres, foundation stage co-ordinators, early years and childcare teams.
Lorraine was proud to be asked to address such a prestigious conference and was delighted that the work she has done has achieved national recognition.
