Do Something Funny for Money; £710 of it!

Comedy team raises hundreds for Comic Relief with hilarious sketch show.

Upper Sixth Form scholar, Ciaran Cresswell planned, organised, produced and directed the Comedy@Bearwood night last week in aid of Comic Relief. Ciaran thinks that ‘comedy is something that the British do well and to do it in aid of charity makes it all so much more worthwhile’. He is delighted that the evening raised £710.

The show, held on site in the College's 350-seat theatre, consisted of 10 sketches, each heralded with guffaws of laughter from the amused audience.

Of the sketches, 4 were written by Ciaran and the remainder reproductions of ‘classic’ comedy sketches from past comedic masters. The 13 scholars involved acted, sang, played music and entertained a rapt crowd to tremendous applause.

During the preparations, rehearsals were watched by professional stand-up comedian, Bennett Aaron who commented that the original sketches were better material than the classics. A sentiment that may well be shared by many of the audience who enjoyed the show so much!
