Early Years

Our Early Years unit offers excellent care and stimulates development for children aged 0-3 years. Situated in two adjacent buildings close to the school’s Victorian Mansion House, children can enjoy the purposely converted facilities which opened in Spring 2008.

The 0-2 Years Unit has 3 rooms: babies Ladybirds, Butterflies and Caterpillers as well as a dedicated sleep room where each child has their own cot and personal bed linen. Each day room has areas for wet and dry play, a semi-circular dining table with little chairs, changing facilities and age-appropriate toys and books. Throughout the 0-2 Years Unit the staff: pupil ratio is 1:3.

The 2-3 Years Unit, known as Dragonflies consists of one large room with wet and dry play areas, groups of tables with small seats and access to toilets and potties as well as to changing facilities. Toys, games and books, including dressing up, craft activities and messy play are greatly enjoyed by this age group. Within the 2-3 Years Unit the staff: pupil ratio is 1:4.

Although the adjacent units are self-contained, they each have doors opening into a garden which offers outdoor toys, decking and access to fresh air, promoting the active use of free flow.

Children of all ages are provided with opportunities to explore creatively and imaginatively in our beautiful 250 acre surroundings, making connections with the world around them. Our everyday walks (weather permitting) are supported by a generous 6-seater buggy and by more conventional single and double buggies.
