FAQs
Where is the food prepared?
The food is freshly cooked every day by qualified catering staff using the onsite facilities within the main College building. It is delivered directly to both nursery settings by floats and hot servers.
What is on the menu?
The menu is on a three-weekly cycle which is subject to regular review to ensure that all meals are nutritionally balanced and that there is variety throughout the week. Should your child have any special dietary requirements please inform your child’s key worker and the administration staff.
Is formula included in the fees?
Yes, Hipp Organic formula is used in the Early Years Unit and is offered at no additional cost. If your child is on an alternative formula, you are welcome to bring this in for them.
Are nappies included in the fees?
Yes, Pampers nappies are used throughout the Nursery for children who are not yet toilet trained. There is no additional fee for this. If you prefer to use an alternative brand, you are welcome to supply nappies for your child’s use whilst at Nursery.
How many weeks a year are we open?
We are open for 51 weeks of the year excluding bank holidays. The week we are closed is the Christmas week when the Nursery shuts at 12 pm on Christmas Eve and re opens after the New Year. Please check the Diary for the January return date as this can vary from year to year.
What are the Nursery opening hours?
The Nursery is open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays and the Christmas week. We require Early Years Unit children (aged 0 to 3 years) to attend for a complete session; however this may exclude breakfast and tea so the day will run from 9am to 4pm. Foundation Stage children between 3 and 5 years may attend for either a morning (8am to 1pm) or an afternoon session (1pm to 6pm) as well as shorter days (9am to 4pm) if preferred. For more information please see Fees.
Is your team security-cleared to work in the Nursery?
All Nursery staff must complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check before they are permitted to commence work at Bearwood College Nursery.
What qualifications do the Nursery team have?
The Nursery has a range of NVQ level 2, 3 and 4 qualified staff. These are the only staff who are directly responsible for the children. We do employ experienced non-qualified staff in supporting roles who, under supervision, are encouraged to develop their skills and are supported in their training.
