Bearwood College is a through school and the Pre-Prep is where formal education really begins. Boys and girls join us from our own nursery and from elsewhere to benefit from the exciting and varied learning environment. We welcome children into our Reception class as rising 5s (and into Year 1 and Year 2 when places are available) and a September entry is preferred. We aim to give them a happy and confident start to school life, the opportunity to work and play together in a structured, stimulating and positive atmosphere where perseverance, good manners, and consideration for others are equally valued.
There is no formal entry assessment into the Pre-Prep Department. Taster mornings can be arranged at any time but generally, in the term prior to entry, arrangements are made for the pupil to spend a morning with the relevant age group within the Pre-Prep following the age appropriate daily programme of Numeracy and Literacy. The taster morning allows staff to informally gauge the pupil’s grasp of basic skills and also means there will be plenty of familiar faces when the pupil joins the school.
