Learning

The Academic curriculum is varied and challenging, from the First Form, through GCSEs to A Levels. The aim of the wide curriculum that we offer is to enable all pupils to reach their academic potential and achieve the best results they can.

Learning is fun and imaginative. We develop independence of thought and practical skills for the future. ICT is utilised throughout the College and we are forward-thinking in our approach to pupils’ use of technology in all subject areas.

Creativity

Our Music, Drama, Design Technology, Art and Photography Departments flourish alongside the core curriculum and as part of the extra-curricular programme.

We have a magnificent purpose built Theatre, opened by our Patron Her Majesty The Queen. We put on major termly productions in the Theatre, and our Drama Studio hosts more intimate performances. Recent productions include Les Miserables and Julius Caesar.

Games and Activities

There are endless opportunities at Bearwood. We offer well over 100 different games and activities. Our extensive grounds and facilities enable us to provide a full programme and ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to exercise a spirit of fair play and competition.

Pupils are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities, as well as to pursue excellence in areas where they have a special expertise

All Third and Fourth Form pupils participate in the Combat Cadet Force and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Adventure Camps, weekend exercises, leadership, first aid and navigation programmes, orienteering competitions, overnight camps, UK and overseas expeditions are all a typical “lifetime experiences” on offer.
