Film Club

The Film Society is open to scholars from the Fifth Form upwards and is a logical choice for any scholar taking Film Studies, thinking of doing so, or simply interested in expanding their experience of the cinema.

Though not following an academic programme, the Society does attempt to challenge, through close analysis and discussion, scholars’ attitudes to many key human qualities — courage, love, hate, honour etc. A range of films from classics such as Psycho or Seven Samurai to contemporary French cinema such as the Three Colours Trilogy have been shown in the past and the aim is always to try and open scholars’ minds to material they may not necessarily have chosen for themselves.

The Society shows films up to a 15 certificate following BBFC guidelines for appropriate material for the group age range.
