Sailing
Sailing as an activity is a way of getting on the water and allowing scholars to discover whether or not they like being in control of a dinghy. The skills of boat rigging, sailing techniques, racing tactics and water safety are all taught during the sailing sessions. Scholars can gain internationally recognised qualifications in Dinghy Sailing, Powerboating and Yachting through the College’s commitment to the Maritime Initiative.
Those who enjoy the sport usually choose to sail as a game once they reach the appropriate year group.
Activity sailing occurs on the Bearwood Lake on Saturdays. The staff are all qualified to teach sailing or run the safety craft, supported by a number of instructor qualified scholars.
